The son of Edward and Louisa of Oxford Road, St Helier. Prior to the
war he worked as a shop assistant.
Wounded in April 1916 and then again in March 1917 when he was struck by shrapnel above the eye. After transferring to the Hampshire Regiment in January 1918 he was discharged from the Army in August that year.
