The son
of Charles and Ellen, of Mrs Hibbs of Hue Street, St Helier.
While training in Ireland, he was put in charge of the goat serving as 7th Royal Irish Rifles regimental mascot. Wounded by a gunshot to the loins in November 1917, he was sufficienly recorved to transfer to 2nd Hampshire Regiment with the rest of the Jersey Company in January 1918.
