Family
background uncertain. Prior to the war he worked as a teacher at Springside
House School, St Helier.
Wounded in May 1916. In March 1917 he was captured during a German Trench raid and sent to Germany as a prisoner of war. At some point he seems to have joined the Royal Flying Corps - although this conflicts with being a POW.
