The son
of Alexander and Catherine Johnston, of Aberdeen, Scotland. Prior to
the war he had come to Jersey to serve as the Superintendent of the
States Experimental School. Whilst in the Island he joined the Militia,
serving in the East Battalion as a 1st Lieutenant.
Serving as second-in-command of the Jersey Company when he was killed by an exploding shell in April 1916.
