The son
of Bernard and Caroline, of William Place, St Helier. Later his mother
lived in Tunnel Street, St Helier. Prior to the war he worked for Maison
Rickett.
He initially served in the Machine Gun Section of 7th Royal Irish Rifles. Wounded in the left arm and foot at Guillemont / Ginchy in September 1916, he was evacuated for treatment at the Fulham Military Hospital, London. By early 1917 he was back at the front. Killed in action during the fighting at Frezenberg in August that year. Initially, however, he was reported missing - it was only in April the following year that his family received confirmation of his death.
