The son
of John and Jane, of Clearview Street, St Helier. Married with eight
children to Clara, at the time ofjoining the Army he was living in Lempriere
Street and working as a painter.
When the Jersey Company moved to Aldershot in August 1915, he remained in Ireland as a "Home Service" man with the 3rd Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles in Dublin. In March 1917, transferred to the Military Foot Police. Discharged from the Army in July 1919.
