The son
of Abraham and Mary, of Columbus Street, St Helier. Prior to the war
he lived in Simon Place, St Helier.
As an senior NCO, in June 1915 he attended a course of instruction in Chelsea, gaining a First Class pass. After arriving in France, he moved to the role of Brigade Mess Steward in February 1916. In the months that followed, he fell ill with influenza and spent time in hospital and recovering in Jersey. He may not have returned to active service with the Jersey Company, but did later serve in the Labour Corps. Discharged from the Army in February 1919.
