The son
of John and Elizabeth, of St Aubin's Road, St Helier. Prior to the war
he lived in Columbus Street, St Helier.
He travelled to France with the Jersey Company in December 1915, but it appears that soon after he was sent back to depot, possibly on account of his age. He does not appear to have returned to duty with the Jersey Company, but later served in the Labour Corps and the 43rd Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. This latter unit, which was formed from soldiers medically unfit for frontline service, served as guards at army headquarters.
