he son
of Philip and Alice, of Columbus Place, St Helier. He was married to
Kathleen, and lived in Metivier Lane, King Street, St Helier at the
time of the war. He worked for Mr Jason Hibbs, the carting contractor.
Known as 'Georgie', in April 1916 he was wounded in by a gunshot to the wrist. Treated first at the First Southern General Hospital, Birmingham and then in the Rhyd Court Military Hospital, Worcester, he did not return to active service until 1917. In August that year, he was reported missing the fighting at Frezenberg, with his death in action being confirmed in July the following year.
