The son of Charles Le Monnier and Eugenie Besnard of Faldouet, St Martin. Prior to the war he was married to Ada, living at Maison Haut, Trinity and working as a labourer. After training in Ireland and Aldershot he went to the front with the Jersey Company in December 1915. After service in the trenches near Loos he fell ill at some point early in 1916 was evacuated from the front for treatment. By the end of 1916, he was back with the Jersey Company and served through 1917 before transferring to the Hampshire Regiment with most other survivors in January 1918. In May 1918, he was slightly wounded and then again by gunshot in October during the final battles in Belgium. Discharged from the Army in December 1918. He died in 1931 aged 43 of pneumonia following an accident at Bouley Bay
