The son
of and Jane, of Castle Street, St Helier. Prior to the war he lived
in Dorset Street, St Helier.
A keen island footballer, he played for a Jersey Company team soon after arriving in Ireland. When the Jersey Company left Ireland to continue training at Aldershot he remained behind as a 'Home Service Man', serving with 3rd Royal Irish Rifles as an orderly. He never went to the front with the Jersey Company, but did serve in the Labour Corps at some point.
