The son
of Charles and Adela, of Upper King's Cliff, St Helier.
One of the Jersey Company's original officers, he went to the front in December 1915. In July 1916, he was admitted to hospital with a heart condition. This appears to have ended his active service. At some point, however, he served in the Royal Navy Reserve.
