The son
of Captain and Mrs Richmond of Osbourne House, Gorey Harbour, St Martin.
Prior to the war he worked as a clerk.
After going to the front with the Jersey Company in December 1915, he was seriously wounded in May the following year. While part of a night time working party repairing barbed wire he was hit by enemy fire in the head, arm, hand and leg. Evacuated for treatment at a Leeds Hospital, he did not return to duty, being discharged from the Army due to his injuries in December 1917.
