The son
of Frank and Emily, of Hue Street, St Helier.
After training in Ireland and Aldershot, he went to the front with the Jersey Company in December 1915. In March the following year, he undertook and a trench mortar course and also trained as a sniper. He appears to have served at the front through 1916 and 1917, but remained with the Royal Irish Rifles in January 1918 while most other members transferred to the Hampshire Regiment. Three months later, in April, he was wounded in the leg by shrapnel while serving with the Royal Irish Rifles. He may not have returned to active service.
