The son of Harry and Sophia, of Prince's Tower Hotel, Grouville. Prior to the war he lived in Trinity Road, St Helier. His elder brother George also served in the Jersey Company. He trained in Ireland and Aldershot before going to the front with the Jersey Company in December 1915. Trained as a sniper in March 1916 while serving in the Loos Sector. Wounded that same month in the arm and leg, he was evacuated to hospital in Newcastle where his leg was eventually amputated. Discharged from the Army in September 1916 on account of his injuries. After the war he settled in Brighton, marrying Nora and having a daughter. Died in 1959.
