The son of Harry and Sophia, of Prince's Tower Hotel, Grouville. Prior to the war he lived at the Victoria Club, St Helier. His younger brother Edwin also served in the Jersey Company. While in Ireland with the Jersey Company he trained as a signaller, passing the course to become a 'Signaller First Class' in October 1915. Serving with the Signal Section of 7th Royal Irish Rifles, he went to France with the rest of the Jersey Company in December that year and served in the trenches at Loos. He appears to have remained at the front through 1916 but by April 1917 he was in hospital suffering from trench foot. Whether he returned to duty with the Jersey Company is uncertain, but he appears to have ended the war serving with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. This move possibly happened in October 1917 with the disbanding of 7th Royal Irish Rifles. After the war he settled in Southamption, marrying Caroline and having two children. He died in 1948.
